Prevents soot build up in intake manifold, and valve's, which will lower the power. Engine produces less soot, so the DPF stays cleaner for longer, so fewer regenerations and longer life. Just remove the plastic engine cover, remove the 2 bolts, slip in the plate and put the 2 bolts back in.
