You insert the tool and rivnut into the hole in your chassis and then turn the end nut which 'pulls' on the rivnut to compress it and tighten onto the chassis - leaving you with a captive nut. This tool will allow you to fit M6 captive nuts into the chassis of your Freelander 2.
