Unplug the ESL (make sure it's in the unlocked position - turn ignition on, make sure you hear it and can turn the wheel, then unplug the ESL before turning off the ignition. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of how to remove, and this is a simple easy DIY job (if your module has failed in the locked position, you will also need to forcefully remove it as per point 5 above, in order to release your steering). ).
