Oil plays a significant role in the cooling process. Oil coolers are used to cool oil and hydraulic fluids for engines and automatic gear boxes. Signs of a failing oil cooler include oil leaks, increased engine oil temperature, coolant contamination (oil in coolant or vice versa), decreased engine performance, and in severe cases, engine overheating.
