This fuel pump this is originally used on models with Alternators 1973 to 1979 which use a 100mm pushrod. Visually these pumps lean over to the left slightly for clearing the larger Alternator body This pump is made exclusively for BBT and has circlips on the pivot pin which other moedls don't. The ones without the circlips are at risk of the pin falling out rendering the vehicle stranded. A faulty fuel pump is a common cause of breakdowns on classic VW's, If you're not getting fuel to the carburettor then the pump is the most likely cause, It is easy to replace with just 2 13mm nuts, the fuel pump flange and pushrod are also available from the Wolfsburg Restos ebay shop.
